Tour or fly in a WWII aircraft May 25, 2013 for Memorial Day

Airshows are a popular destination for many Memorial Day celebrations around the country.  If you'd like to inspect a WW2 bomber or fighter up close and even fly in one, this is your weekend!  The "Wings of Freedom" tour has been open this week and the last day is tomorrow.  You can get up close and personal with a B-17, B-24, or P-51 Mustang at Moffett Federal Airfield today from 10:00AM to 4:30PM.  Tickets are $12 for adults, kids 12-17 are $6, and kids under 12 are free.  WW2 veterans are also free.

Fly in a B-17, B-24, or P-51

If you've always wanted to fly in one of these old warhorses, this is your chance.  For only $425, you get the rare opportunity for a 30 minute flight over the South Bay.  This is not like flying commercial and you'll get a feel for what it was like for soldiers back in WW2.  The noise and feel are all here to experience!  You can sit in the bomber position, man a gunning station, or watch the flight engineer.  You're free to tour the plane while it flys and experience every position if you like.  Soak it all in and get a feel for what being in a bomber was really like over 60 years ago.

Just to make the experience even more special, you could actually fly a P-51 Mustang for either 30 minutes ($2200) or 1 hour ($3200) and become the "ace" you've always wanted to be.  For such a unique activity, I'd say this is well worth the investment.  This is the real deal - not a model or replica - so why not try it?  Call 800-568-8924 to schedule a flight.

The Collings Foundation has been running this tour for 24 years.  They offer several aircraft and automobiles from the past to both see and fly/drive.  They operate around the country and your support is appreciated.
