Sushi Confidential in Campbell, CA REVIEW

Sushi Confidential - Campbell, CACampbell needed a place like this downtown - creative, tasty, and well run.  This is NOT your typical sushi place, which is exactly what we need.  They've got all the usual rolls and sashimi every other place has but they've also got some of the best culinary art I've seen at a sushi restaurant.  A few key points:

SERVICE:  On a FRIDAY NIGHT! (although a bit early) we were welcomed immediately, seated fast, and the waitress was at our table in less than a minute with utensils, plates, and water.  She offered menus and offered advice on what to order.  She returned at perfect intervals (trust me on this, I've been to enough high-end restaurants to know) and was friendly and helpful every time.  Our initial order was for the Geisha Girl roll (more on that later) and it came out in a few minutes.  A little after that order she came back for the rest.  If these guys had issues in the past with service, they don't have them now.  SERVICE IS EXCELLENT!

PRICING:  Sushi is expensive anyway so stop whining about $14 for a roll that's almost artwork and costs the same as a bowl of pasta at the nearby Italian restaurant.  Yes, the prices are a bit higher but the quality is well worth it and the overall cost of the meal was cheap.  $31 (plus tip) for 2 rolls, a taco, and rice - very reasonable.

FOOD:  The "Geisha Girl Roll" is perhaps the best piece of sushi I've ever had - anywhere - including Japan (yes, I've been there).  All the flavors in the roll stood out in a symphony of tastes that just made me want to order more.  It's a masterpiece.  The next roll we had was the "Coop Da" which was cooked chicken and rice.  That wasn't as amazing as the other roll but very flavorful and filling.  It's an excellent compliment to the lighter rolls.  The taco was good too and a creative implementation that combined the look at flavor profile of a fun Mexican food with Japanese ingredients.  Try it.

This place is for the culinary explorer who wants high-quality and knows it when they eat it.
